The focus of Dr. Grossfeld’s Laboratory is on defining the genetic basis of congenital heart defects - the most common of human birth defects.

Dr. Grossfeld’s research has focused on a rare genetic syndrome, Jacobsen Syndrome (JS), that is caused by the loss of the end of the long arm of human chromosome 11. Jen met Dr. Grossfeld while filming 'How I Met Your Mother' and has supported his research ever since. This cause is also very close to Jen's heart as she knows three children with this disease. Jen was Master of Ceremonies at the 8th Annual Little Hearts Big Hopes Fundraiser at the Grammy Museum and she has also done two separate t-shirt campaigns through both Represent and Stands to raise money for this important research.

The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder, Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay. Jen has supported St. Jude's for many years now, including being an active participant in their poker events, Christmas fundraisers, and more.

Dressember is a collaborative movement leveraging fashion and creativity to restore dignity to all women. Every year, thousands of advocates around the world take on the creative challenge of wearing a dress or tie during the 31 days of December. The dress or tie serves as the conversation starter to educate your community about modern slavery. Jen Joined Dressember in 2017 raising $8,619.11. In 2018, she collaborated with them and designed a dress called ' The Jennifer' in hopes of raising money for the cause.

cure batten.png

In 2015, Charlotte (then age 4) and Gwenyth (then age 2) Gray were diagnosed with Batten Disease. Doctors explained that there was no cure, nor any treatment options for this rare neurodegenerative disorder which would leave the girls blind, immobile, cognitively impaired, and ultimately gone between the ages of 6 and 12. Their parents, Kristen and Gordon, were unwilling to accept this prognosis. One year later, thanks to unwavering dedication and an overwhelming outpouring of support from all over the world, the foundation had coordinated and funded a first-of-its-kind investigational gene therapy clinical trial, providing the first signs of hope for a cure to families impacted by this disease.

Jen has consistently supported Cure Batten through social media.
